Man and Van Jobs Across the UK

Man and van jobs are self-employed, per-job moving work — from single-item collections to full house moves — booked by the job rather than by the hour of employment. With Man and Van Club you apply once for free, verify your insurance, then review and quote real customer move requests in your approved area. There is no monthly subscription and no fee to quote. A platform fee only applies when a customer accepts your quote and pays a booking deposit, which is deducted from your quote and capped at £50.

How moving work usually reaches movers — and how we do it

Most moving work online reaches movers through lead-selling sites or open bidding marketplaces. We built the model we would want to quote on ourselves: no lead fees, one mover quoting at a time, and a deposit-backed booking before your phone ever rings about the job.

The money, stated plainly

No earnings promises — here is exactly how you get paid

Any platform that promises you a weekly income is guessing at your diary and your area. We would rather show you the exact maths than quote you a number: your prices, a known maximum fee, and a paid deposit before the customer details release.

No subscription, no quote fees

Joining is free and every quote you send is free. Your costs are zero until someone actually books you.

Fee only on accepted quotes

The customer pays a booking deposit through Man and Van Club. That deposit is retained as the platform booking fee and deducted from your quote — currently never more than £50.

You set every price

You quote what the job is worth to you. Customer guide prices on the platform run from around £19 per hour for self-load help up to £55+ per hour for larger moves — you are never locked to them.

Worked example: you quote £300 for a move. The customer pays a £25 booking deposit through us, which we retain as the platform fee. On moving day the customer pays you the remaining £275 directly. Your total for the job stays £300.

Mover questions

Man and van jobs FAQ

Is man and van work a job or self-employment?
It is self-employed, per-job work. You run your own business, you choose which enquiries to quote, you set your own prices, and you agree the final arrangements with the customer. Man and Van Club is a marketplace that introduces customers to independent movers — we are not an employer and not a removals company.
Do I need my own van for man and van jobs?
Yes. You need either your own van or reliable access to a suitable vehicle, plus valid vehicle insurance for the work. On the form you tell us your usual job types and capacity so requests match what you can actually take.
How much can I earn from man and van work?
We do not make earnings promises — what you make depends on your area, your availability and the prices you quote. What we can tell you exactly is how the money works: you set your own price per job, the customer pays a booking deposit through us that is deducted from your quote as the platform fee (currently a maximum of £50), and you collect the remaining balance on moving day. Customer guide prices on the platform run from around £19 per hour for self-load help up to £55+ per hour for larger moves.
How fast will I receive my first job enquiry?
It depends on two things: how quickly your insurance documents are verified (approval is manual, for everyone's safety) and how much demand is arriving in your area that week. We are a new platform growing area by area, so early approved movers in a city are first in line when requests land there.
How is this different from buying leads?
Three ways. You never pay per lead or per quote — a fee only exists when the customer accepts and pays a deposit. Only one mover quotes a customer at a time, so you are not bidding against five others for the same phone number. And the customer's deposit is paid before their details release, so the work is already a real booking, not a cold lead.
What insurance do I need to join?
Three documents, emailed to us after you apply: Goods in Transit insurance, Public Liability insurance and vehicle insurance suitable for the work. We read them before approving your account — the check protects customers and it protects the reputation of every mover on the platform.
