Verification Process

How We Vet Movers

Man and Van Club is not an open directory. Every mover passes five checks before they can see a single customer request, and your details stay private until you accept a quote. Here is exactly what we check.

The Five Checks

These checks happen before a mover is approved, not after something goes wrong. A mover who cannot evidence all five does not get access.

1. Business details verification

Every applicant submits their business information: trading name, service types and operating details. We confirm the business is real before anything else happens. Anonymous or incomplete applications go no further.

2. Contact information verification

We verify the phone number and email address the mover provides. When a mover contacts you after you accept a quote, you know exactly who is calling and that we can reach them too.

3. Goods in Transit insurance

Movers must hold valid Goods in Transit insurance, the policy that covers your belongings while they are being moved. Evidence is checked before the mover can see a single customer request.

4. Public Liability insurance

Public Liability insurance covers accidental damage to property or injury during the job, for example in your hallway or on the pavement. Movers must evidence this cover before they are approved.

5. Service area verification

Movers tell us the postcodes and regions they genuinely cover, and we check those areas make sense for their base and vehicle. Your request only reaches a mover who actually works your route.

Plus: your details stay private

Even after approval, movers only ever see anonymised job details. Your name, number and email are released to one mover only, if and when you accept their quote.

Why Vet Movers At All?

Anyone can call themselves a man and van. There is no licence for carrying furniture, which makes insurance and identity checks the only real line between a professional and a stranger with a van.

One honest quote beats five cold calls. Because our movers are pre-verified, your request goes to one suitable mover who reviews it properly, instead of being sold to a list of firms who race to ring you.

You keep the final say. Verification gets a mover through our door. Whether they get your job is always your decision, after you have seen their quote.

Always confirm insurance details directly with your mover before moving day. Read how the booking process works for the full journey from request to moving day.

Frequently Asked Questions

What insurance do your movers have to hold?

Every approved mover must evidence two policies before they can quote: Goods in Transit insurance, which covers your belongings while they are being transported, and Public Liability insurance, which covers accidental damage or injury during the job. We recommend you also confirm cover details directly with your mover before moving day.

Do movers see my personal details?

No, not until you choose. Movers review anonymised job details: postcodes, items, access notes and dates. Your name, phone number and email are only released to the one mover whose quote you accept, after your booking deposit is paid.

Can anyone with a van join?

No. Every application is reviewed individually and must pass all five checks: business details, contact information, Goods in Transit insurance, Public Liability insurance and service area verification. We are a marketplace with doors, not an open directory.

What happens if a mover's standards slip?

Customer feedback after quotes and moves is reviewed. Movers who fall short of the standard can have their access to new customer requests restricted or removed entirely.

Move With A Verified Mover

Submit your move details for free. One mover who has passed all five checks reviews your request and sends a quote. No obligation.
